Typical exclusions under marine cargo policies include:
- Ordinary leakage, normal loss in weight, normal wear and tear
- Loss due to poor or insufficient packing
- Delay (without physical damage to the goods)
- Inherent defect or nature of the goods (e.g. self-heating chemicals)
- Wilful misconduct of the insured
- War, strikes, riots and terrorism (unless separately covered)
